111. What happens if I delete statements from an assessment framework that I am already using?

In TrackAble, you can delete statements from an assessment framework at any time. However, we strongly recommend completing all framework edits before it is used for assessment. If a framework is already in use, deleting statements can impact progress calculations, level steps, and existing assessment data. This article explains what to expect and how to manage the changes safely.

Important Recommendation

🚨 Best practice:
Finalise assessment frameworks before baselining pupils or entering assessment data.

Deleting statements from a live framework can change how progress is calculated and may remove existing data.

How Deleting Statements Affects Progression

What Happens?

When statements are deleted from a level:

  • The level now contains fewer statements

  • Pupils may complete the level more quickly

  • Progression percentages may increase suddenly

This may look like accelerated progress, even though no new assessment has been added.

Impact on Level Steps and Progress Calculations

What Happens?

Removing statements or entire levels affects TrackAble’s ability to calculate level steps correctly.

When this happens, TrackAble will display a:

“No Level Steps” error message
within the progression feature.

How to Resolve the “No Level Steps” Error

  1. Click “Click here to resolve the issue” in the error message

  2. TrackAble will refresh and recalculate the level steps

  3. Progress calculations will update based on the revised framework

This step is essential after making changes to an assessment framework.

What Happens to Existing Assessment Data?

⚠️ Important:
If you delete a statement:

  • All assessment data linked to that statement is permanently deleted

This data cannot be recovered once the statement is removed.

Key Things to Consider Before Deleting Statements

Before making changes, ask yourself:

  • Have pupils already been baselined?

  • Is there assessment data attached to these statements?

  • Could deleting statements affect reported progress?

In many cases, it may be safer to duplicate the framework and make changes to the new version instead.
