110. What happens if I add statements to a framework that I am already using?
In TrackAble, statements can be added to any assessment framework at any time. However, we strongly recommend making changes before a framework is used for assessment. If a framework is already in use, adding statements can affect baselines and progress data. This article explains what you need to know and how to manage the impact safely.
Important Recommendation
🚨 Best practice:
Always finalise assessment frameworks before baselining pupils or entering assessment data.
If changes are made after a framework is in use, data issues may occur.
How Adding Statements Affects Baselines
What Happens?
If a pupil has been baselined at a specific level (for example, P4) and you then add new statements into that same level:
-
The new statements will be incomplete
-
The level will no longer be fully achieved
-
The pupil’s baseline will be lost
How to Fix a Lost Baseline
If this happens:
-
Clear the affected level for the pupil
-
Re-baseline the pupil at the correct level
This ensures the baseline accurately reflects the updated framework.
How Adding Statements Affects Assessment Progress
What Happens?
If a pupil is currently working at a level (for example, P4 + 5%) and you add statements to lower levels:
-
The pupil may appear to regress
-
This is because they may no longer meet the required 80% completion of the lower level
This is a data effect, not a reflection of real pupil regression.
Checking Which Pupils Are Affected
If you decide to add statements to a framework that already has:
-
Baselines, and/or
-
Assessment data
You should run a report to identify any impact.
How to Check:
-
Go to the Assessment screen
-
Open Reports
-
Run the Levels Report
-
Review which pupils have been affected by the framework changes
This allows you to identify pupils who may need:
-
Re-baselining
-
Data review or correction
Key Things to Remember
-
Adding statements to a live framework can affect baselines and progress
-
Lost baselines must be cleared and re-set
-
Apparent regression may be caused by new lower-level statements
-
Always review data using the Levels Report after making changes
