99. Why do I get an error message when I click on the IEP icon?
TrackAble includes enhanced data checks to help schools identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect pupil information. One common issue that can prevent access to IEPs is when a pupil is not assigned to a tutor group. If you see an error message when clicking the IEP icon, this article will help you identify and fix the issue quickly.
Why This Error Occurs
In TrackAble, every pupil must be assigned to a tutor group.
If this requirement is not met, the system will block access and display an error message.
This usually happens for one of the reasons below.
Step 1: Check if a Pupil Has No Tutor Group
Some pupils may not be assigned to any tutor group at all.
How to check
-
Go to Admin
-
Select Pupils
-
Review the Tutor Group column
If a pupil has no tutor group listed, this will cause the error.
Step 2: Check if Pupils Are Assigned to Teaching Groups Only
In some cases, pupils are assigned only to Teaching Groups, not Tutor Groups.
How to check
-
Go to Admin
-
Select Lists
-
Choose Classes
-
Click Edit
-
Review which classes are marked as:
-
Tutor Groups
-
Teaching Groups
-
Only Tutor Groups satisfy TrackAble’s data requirements for IEP access.
Step 3: Assign the Correct Tutor Group
Once you’ve identified the issue, you can resolve it by assigning pupils to the correct tutor group.
How to update a pupil’s tutor group
-
Go to Admin
-
Select Pupils
-
Click Edit on the relevant pupil
-
Choose the correct Tutor Group from the drop-down list
-
Click Save
✅ Once saved, the IEP icon should open without errors.
