86. How do I formant an assessment framework in Excel so that it can be uploaded onto TrackAble?

TrackAble allows schools to create their own assessment frameworks using an Excel spreadsheet. Once completed, the TrackAble support team will upload the framework to your system. Assessment frameworks are uploaded free of charge, provided the spreadsheet is formatted correctly.

Important Information Before You Start

✔️ Framework uploads are free of charge
⚠️ If a framework is uploaded and the data provided is incorrect, there may be a charge to remove the incorrect framework and upload a corrected version

It is the school’s responsibility to ensure:

  • The spreadsheet format is correct

  • All spelling is accurate and consistent

  • There are no extra spaces or variations in naming

Why Accuracy Matters

TrackAble treats capital letters and spaces as characters.

For example:

  • English and english will create two separate subjects

  • L1 and L 1 will create two separate levels

This can cause:

  • Duplicate subjects or levels

  • Reporting issues

  • Data inconsistencies

Always spell check and check for extra spaces before sending the file.

Spreadsheet Format Requirements

Your spreadsheet must follow this exact structure:

  • Each assessment framework must be on a separate spreadsheet

  • All subjects must be on Sheet 1

  • Do not use multiple tabs for different subjects

  • The spreadsheet must contain only the 5 columns listed below

Required Column Headings

Your spreadsheet must include only these columns, in this order:

  • Column A: Assessment Framework

  • Column B: Subject

  • Column C: Level

  • Column D: Statements

  • Column E: Details

No additional columns should be added.

What Goes in Each Column

Column A – Assessment Framework

  • The name of the framework

  • Must be exactly the same on every row

Column B – Subject

  • Subject names within the framework

  • Must be spelled consistently throughout

Column C – Level

  • The level name (for example: P4, L1, Step 3)

  • Ensure there are no extra spaces

Column D – Statements

  • The assessment statement

Column E – Details

  • Optional supporting information

  • Can include guidance to help staff understand what a pupil needs to do to meet the statement

Using an Existing Framework as a Template

If you download an existing assessment framework from TrackAble into Excel:

  • It will already be in the correct format

  • This can be used as a template for creating new frameworks

Final Checks Before Sending

Before sending your spreadsheet to TrackAble, check that:

  • ✔️ All spelling is consistent

  • ✔️ There are no extra spaces

  • ✔️ All data is on Sheet 1 only

  • ✔️ Only the five required columns are included

Submitting Your Framework

Once your spreadsheet is complete and checked, send it to:

support@trackable.org.uk

The support team will upload the framework and contact you if any issues are identified.
