83. What does the Zones Report show?

The Zones Report in TrackAble allows you to view average pupil progress and targets across grouped subjects, known as Zones. Zones are useful when you want to analyse performance across related subjects (for example, combining all Science or English subjects into a single view).

Before You Start: Setting Up Zones

Before the Zones Report can be used, Zones must be set up.

  • Zones are configured in TrackAble settings

  • Each Zone contains one or more subjects

A webinar explaining how to set up Zones is available in the help centre.

⚠️ The Zones Report will not work until Zones have been created.

What the Zones Report Shows

Once Zones are set up, the report shows:

  • The average progress for pupils within the selected Zone

  • The average target for pupils within the same Zone

  • Combined figures across all subjects included in the Zone

This allows you to analyse performance at a broader curriculum level.

Example of How Zones Work

Example Zone: Science

Subjects included:

  • Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Enquiry

  • Physics

The Zones Report will calculate:

  • Combined progress across all Science subjects

  • Combined targets across all Science subjects

Rather than viewing each subject separately, you see a single Science outcome.

Viewing Zone Data for Individual Pupils

The Zones Report also shows zone-level data per pupil.

Example:

  • Pupil: Braxton Mann

  • Class: Zone 3

  • Term: Summer 2020/21

Zone: WS English (3 subjects)

  • Literacy – Communication, Vocabulary, Grammar & Punctuation

    • Progress: P7 + 34% | Target: P7 + 42%

  • Literacy – Reading

    • Progress: P10 + 40% | Target: P10 + 30%

  • Literacy – Writing

    • Progress: P5 + 19% | Target: P5 + 26%

Zone Output (combined):

  • Progress: P7 + 58%

  • Target: P7 + 59%

How Calculations Are Made

  • Zone averages take the threshold into account

  • TrackAble converts its internal pseudo-decimal values into real decimal values to perform accurate averaging

This ensures progress and target calculations remain consistent and meaningful across subjects.
