74. How do I edit statements in an assessment framework?
The Statements Tab in TrackAble allows administrators to manage assessment statements within a framework. From this tab, you can add, edit, delete, reorder statements, and set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). ⚠️ Changes made to statements can affect assessment data, baselines, and reporting, so care should always be taken.
What You Can Do in the Statements Tab
Within the Statements Tab, you can:
-
Add new statements (that do not contain assessment data)
-
Edit existing statements
-
Delete statements that do not contain data
-
Reorder statements within a level
-
Set statements as KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
Viewing Statements
-
Select the required subject
-
Choose the level using the drop-down arrow
-
All statements for that level will be displayed
From here, click Edit to manage statements.
Adding, Editing, and Deleting Statements
Using the Edit option, you can:
-
Add a new statement
-
Edit the wording of an existing statement
-
Delete a statement (only if it does not contain assessment data)
Reordering Statements
If you delete a statement that does not contain data, the remaining statements may no longer be in the correct sequence.
To reorder statements:
-
Use the hand icon to drag and drop statements into the correct order
-
Press F5 on your keyboard or refresh the page
-
TrackAble will automatically correct the numbering
Setting KPI (Key Performance Indicator) Statements
When a statement is marked as a KPI:
-
Staff can continue assessing across levels
-
A pupil cannot move to the next level until all KPI statements in the current level are completed
Best Practice for KPIs
We recommend adding “KPI” at the start of the statement text.
This helps:
-
Teachers easily identify KPI statements
-
Administrators recognise KPIs for future review or amendment
Important Information About Deleting Statements with Data
If a statement already contains assessment data, it cannot be deleted by users.
To request deletion:
-
Email support@trackable.org.uk
The support team will explain the potential impact on your data before making any changes.
Impact of Adding Statements After Assessment Has Started
Adding new statements to a level after assessment has begun may affect:
-
Existing baselines
-
Percentage completion for pupils
-
Reporting data
Example:
If a pupil was baselined at P4 and a new statement is later added to P4, the pupil will no longer show a 100% baseline.
You will need to:
-
Clear the baseline
-
Re-baseline the pupil
Please refer to the Assessment Manual for guidance on baselining.
Recommendation
🚫 We do not recommend making changes to assessment frameworks once they are in use.
Any changes can have a significant impact on baselines, progress, and reports.
