46. How to Enable a Spiky Profile for a Pupil or Class in TrackAble

A Spiky Profile allows TrackAble to recognise progress made across multiple levels—even when a pupil has not fully completed an entire level. This provides a more accurate picture of attainment for pupils who make uneven or partial progress across different areas. You can enable Spiky Profiles for individual pupils or entire classes.

What Is a Spiky Profile?

Normally, TrackAble displays a pupil’s level based on the highest fully completed level (e.g., P4 + 50%).
With a Spiky Profile:

  • TrackAble counts all completed progress, even across different levels

  • This gives a more representative view for pupils who make progress unevenly

  • Particularly useful for pupils working within several levels at once

For example, if a pupil has:

  • 10% progress in P6

  • 5% in P7

TrackAble will add these to their level progress, e.g., P4 + 65% rather than just P4 + 50%.

When enabled, a spike icon appears next to the pupil or class name.

How to Enable a Spiky Profile for an Individual Pupil

  1. Go to Admin > Pupils.

  2. Click Edit next to the pupil's name.

  3. Locate the Spiky Profile option.

  4. Select the radio button to switch it on.

  5. Click Save.

The pupil will now display as having a Spiky Profile in their assessment view.

How to Enable a Spiky Profile for a Whole Class

  1. Go to Admin > Lists > Classes.

  2. Click Edit next to the class you want to update.

  3. Tick the Spiky Profile checkbox.

  4. Click Save.

Every pupil in the class will now use the Spiky Profile calculation method.

Self-Service Tips

✔ If a pupil’s progress appears different from expected, check whether a Spiky Profile is enabled.
✔ You can switch Spiky Profiles on or off at any time—TrackAble recalculates automatically.
✔ Only enable for pupils who genuinely require cross-level progress tracking.
