39. How to Edit Subjects in an Assessment Framework in TrackAble

Each assessment framework contains a set of subjects that you can customise to reflect your school’s curriculum. In TrackAble, you can rename, reorder, add or delete subjects, and manage which levels apply to each subject. This guide explains how to safely and effectively edit subjects within an assessment framework.

Accessing the Subjects Tab

  1. Go to Admin > Assessment Frameworks.

  2. Select the framework you want to edit.

  3. Click the Subjects tab.

You will now see a list of subjects linked to that framework.

What You Can Do in the Subjects Tab

1. Rename a Subject

  • Click Edit next to the subject name.

  • Enter the new name.

  • Click Save.

2. Add a New Subject

  • Click Add Subject.

  • Enter the subject name.

  • Save your changes.

After adding a subject, you must attach levels and statements so teachers can assess against it.

3. Delete a Subject (Important Warning)

You can delete a subject only if you are sure it is no longer needed.

⚠ Important

If you delete a subject that has any assessment data recorded, you will permanently delete:

  • The subject

  • Its levels

  • All linked statements

  • All assessment recorded for those statements

This deletion cannot be reversed.

4. Reorder Subjects

Reordering subjects affects how they appear on the assessment screen.

  • Click and hold the hand icon beside a subject.

  • Drag it to the desired position.

  • Release to drop it into place.

Managing Levels Within Subjects

Each subject may have specific levels associated with it.

To review or edit level assignments:

  1. Click the chevron (˅) to the left of the subject name.

  2. You will see a list of levels.

  3. Tick or untick levels as required.

⚠ Important Check

If you previously deleted a level from the framework:

  • Open each subject’s chevron

  • Ensure the deleted level is unticked

  • If it is still ticked, un-tick it to prevent referencing missing data

Self-Service Tips

✔ If a subject isn’t appearing in assessments, check that levels are correctly ticked.
✔ If a teacher cannot access a subject, verify the subject is added to the class settings.
✔ For frameworks used across multiple classes, review subjects before teachers start assessing to avoid accidental data loss.
