36. How to Create a Percentage Baseline in TrackAble

A percentage baseline allows you to set a more precise starting point for a pupil by marking only certain statements within a level as completed at the start of the academic year. This is helpful for pupils who are working within a level but have not yet completed it in full. This guide explains how to create a percentage baseline step by step.

Step 1: Baseline the Whole Level

  1. Go to the pupil’s Assessment screen.

  2. Click Edit next to the level you want to baseline.

  3. Click Baseline for Year.

This sets the level as the pupil’s baseline in the usual way.

Step 2: Select the Statements That Form the Percentage Baseline

  1. Review the statements within the level.

  2. Click the number at the start of each statement you want to include in the baseline.

    • Selected statements will highlight.

    • You can select as many statements as needed.

These selected statements will become the percentage progress completed at the start of the year.

Step 3: Complete the Selected Statements

  1. Change the date to 30 August (TrackAble’s baseline reference date).

  2. Click Complete Statements.

This marks only the chosen statements as complete, creating a percentage baseline rather than a full-level baseline.

What Happens After Creating a Percentage Baseline?

  • The pupil’s baseline will display as a percentage, reflecting how much of the level they had already achieved.

  • This percentage will appear in reports, allowing teachers to see exactly where the pupil started at the beginning of the academic year.
