34. How to Change Terminology in TrackAble

TrackAble allows you to customise the terminology used throughout the system so it matches the language your school prefers. For example, if your school uses the term “students” instead of “pupils”, you can update TrackAble to reflect this consistently across all modules. This helps ensure clarity for staff and aligns TrackAble with your local policies and documentation.

Accessing Terminology Settings

  1. Open the Administration Menu (see Accessing the Administration Menu article).

  2. Click the Terminology icon.

  3. You will be taken to the Terminology Settings screen.

Understanding Terminology Categories

Terminology in TrackAble is split into ten sections, each covering a different area of the system—for example:

  • Pupils

  • Assessments

  • IEP

  • Behaviour

  • Classes

  • Evidence

  • Forms

  • Reports
    …and more.

Each section contains a list of terms that you can rename to match your school’s preferred vocabulary.

How to Change a Term

Follow the steps below:

1. Select the Relevant Terminology Category

Click the section that contains the term you want to change.

2. Rename the Term

  • Enter your preferred wording into the editable field.

  • The default TrackAble term is displayed alongside it for reference.

3. Save Your Changes

Click Save Changes to apply your update.

Your chosen terminology will now appear throughout TrackAble wherever the term is used.

Important Notes

Each term must be unique

  • You cannot duplicate terms across different fields.

  • Ensure each renamed term is distinct.

Terminology changes affect all users

  • Any updates you make will be reflected across the system instantly.

  • Choose clear, consistent wording that all staff will recognise.
