22. How to Change a Pupil’s Baseline in TrackAble
A baseline represents a pupil’s starting point for progress tracking in TrackAble. If a pupil has been baselined incorrectly or their starting point needs updating, you must first remove existing assessment data before applying a new baseline. This guide walks you through how to clear a level and re-baseline a pupil correctly.
Before You Start
TrackAble will not allow you to set a new baseline if any assessment data exists below the baseline level.
You must clear the existing baseline and any levels beneath it before re-baselining.
Step 1: Clear the Current Baseline Level
-
Go to the pupil’s Assessment screen.
-
Find the level currently set as the baseline.
-
Click Edit Level next to that level.
-
Click Clear Level.
This removes all assessment data for that level.
Step 2: Clear Any Levels Below the Baseline
Repeat the clearing process for every level below the intended new baseline.
Important:
Pupils should never have assessment data in levels below their baseline. These levels represent their starting point, so TrackAble requires them to be empty before setting a new baseline.
Step 3: Apply the New Baseline
Once all lower levels are cleared, you can re-baseline the pupil at the correct level.

Updating Multiple Baselines
If you need to amend baselines for several pupils at once, you can use the View Baselines page, which allows bulk adjustments.
