19. How to Add Pupils to Classes in TrackAble
In TrackAble, each pupil has one Tutor Group, assigned within their pupil record. However, pupils can belong to multiple additional classes such as teaching groups, intervention groups, or enrichment classes. This guide explains how to add pupils to extra classes and how subjects connect to those classes.
Understanding Class Types in TrackAble
Tutor Group

Assigned within the pupil’s record

Each pupil can have only one Tutor Group

Used for registration and core reporting
Teaching or Ad-Hoc Groups

Created through Admin > Lists > Classes

Pupils can belong to multiple additional groups

You can assign subjects or full assessment frameworks

Useful for interventions, small groups, or TA-led sessions
How to Add Pupils to Additional Classes
Follow the steps below to create a new class and add pupils to it.
Step 1: Create a New Class

Go to Admin > Lists > Classes.

Click Add Class.

Enter the class name (e.g., “Maths Intervention Group”).

In Group Type, select Teaching Group.

Click Save.
Step 2: Add Pupils to the Class

In the Pupils field, begin typing the pupil’s name.

When the correct name appears, click to add them.

Repeat for all pupils who should be part of the group.
You can add as many pupils as required.
Step 3: Add Subjects to the Class
Within the class setup:

In the Subjects field, type the first few letters of the subject or framework.

Select the subject(s) you want this class to access.

Click Save.
Staff assigned to this class will only be able to access the subjects you have chosen.
When to Edit the Tutor Group
If you need to change a pupil’s Tutor Group (their main class):

Go to Admin > Pupils

Edit the pupil’s record
-
Update their main class (Tutor Group)
Tutor Groups cannot be changed through the Classes menu.
